Plateau Surveyors Ltd was founded in 1982 by Grant Pope and since its inception has played a significant role in land development in Ohakune, Taihape, National Park and the wider Central Plateau area. Plateau Surveyors Ltd is the Central Plateau’s rural and urban subdivision specialist. We are reliable, efficient, precise, highly qualified and experienced. We are well equipped with the latest measuring equipment and computer programs, and undertake all forms of land surveying, resource management, urban design and land development engineering. Grant Pope has lived, worked and been involved in the local community for over 30 years and, along with the rest of the local team, has accumulated a vast amount of knowledge about the district and how it functions. This mix of local knowledge and our professional approach means we are able to serve our clients efficiently and effectively. We have fostered close working relationships with the Rangitikei and Ruapehu District Councils and the Horizons Regional Council. We have also developed good working relationships with local Iwi including Ngati Rangi, the Department of Conservation and Fish & Game.

Registered Professional Surveyor
Grant Pope
Grant is a Registered Professional Surveyor and a Licensed Cadastral Surveyor.
Grant has over 35 years industry experience in Cadastral and Engineering surveys and is a Member of the New Zealand Institute of Surveyors as a Registered Professional Surveyor.
He has worked as a tutor at the Central Institute of Technology and is an Assessor for the NZ Certificate and Diploma in Surveying.
Grant has a keen interest in golf and is actively involved in the local Waimarino Golf course, he is also a “geriatric” snowboarder/skier. Grant and his wife Lynne are also involved in a number of local community organisations.

Owen King
Owen graduated from The University of Otago in 2012 with a Bachelor of Science (Land Planning and Development) and since that time has also achieved a National Diploma of Land Surveying.
Owen grew up in Ohakune and began working at Plateau Surveyors in 2006 during his university breaks. Having accumulated a wealth of knowledge and practical experience he has been employed full time as a Surveyor for a number of years.
In his spare time Owen is a keen sportsman and enjoys kayaking, skiing and playing golf and cricket.
Junior Surveyor
Maruia Roberts
Maruia grew up in Central Otago but now calls the Ruapehu Region home.
Having joined Plateau Surveyors in 2019, the focus of her role is to assist the Surveyor in the preparation of survey calculations and plans, including Subdivision and Engineering Plans, and undertaking fieldwork. She achieved a National Certificate in Surveying in 2022.
In her spare time Maruia enjoys horse riding and the outdoor lifestyle.

Rochelle Dean
Rochelle has lived in Ohakune for most of her life and has a broad knowledge of the Ruapehu District.
She joined Plateau Surveyors in 2020 and is now employed as a Survey Assistant. Within this role she supports the Surveying Team in plan preparation and fieldwork. She has also obtained a Certificate in Arts (Planning Studies) from Massey University and has experience assisting in the preparation of Resource Consent Applications.
Outside of work Rochelle spends time maintaining her small lifestyle block and enjoys attending concerts and music events.
Resource Management Officer
Emma Kirkpatrick
Emma holds a Graduate Certificate in Arts (Planning Studies) from Massey University.
Originally from the UK, she joined the Plateau Surveyors Team in 2018 after making a permanent move to New Zealand, and now fulfils the role of Resource Management Officer. In this role she is responsible for the preparation and lodgement of Resource Consent Applications, including the representation of clients at Council meetings. With experience in rural, residential, commercial and industrial developments Emma is able to guide clients through the resource management process to achieve outcomes that are beneficial to both the client and the sustainable development of the Ruapehu District.

Sue Mead
Sue joined the team in 2023 deciding after years of holidaying in the district to make the move permenant. Her whole working career has been spent in administration starting as a junior and working up to Admin Manager, so she has brought a wealth of knowledge to the team.
Sue has recently returned from 14 months travelling around Australia where she and her husband shipped their Land Cruiser and Caravan over there and did ‘The Lap’ as they say. Now they are back home she is keen to settle back into work and see some out of the way sites here in New Zealand in her spare time.
